Minimum Qualifications:

- Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

- The Graduate nurse must obtain licensure within 60 days of hire (may not be waived).

- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Position Summary: The professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The Registered Nurse accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge skills, and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to who care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes.

The Registered Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is relevant to the patient(s) under their care, as well as apply principles of growth and development over the life span. The Registered Nurse also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.

Registered Nurse

Notes to Applicant 7 Northeast, also referred to as the Bone and Joint Hospital, has been recognized by the Joint Commission with an Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacements. This 24 bed unit offers all private, telemetry-equipped patient rooms, which have video monitoring capabilities. A newly, renovated, private gym used only for the orthopedic patient is located directly on the unit. Same day Total Joint Replacement patients are recovered and are discharged from this unit. Our staff is supported by an interdisciplinary team, comprised of orthopedic specific care managers, physical and occupational therapists, a physician assistant, an orthopedic physician available in house 24/7 and a network of other clinicians working together to provide outstanding patient care. With a 1:4-6 nurse to patient ratio, this fast paced, acute care unit provides exceptional learning opportunities caring for the post-surgical patients of our seven orthopedic services; Total Joint Replacements, orthopedic oncology, trauma, sports, spine, hand, and ankle/foot. A six week, structured orientation allows our nurses to develop their skills caring for the orthopedic patient population and starts them off on the right foot towards achieving their Orthopedic Nurse Certification!
