Description Position Summary: The primary focus of the driver is to provide safe transport for patients and EMS providers caring for critical, emergent, and non-emergent patients. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe patient transportation. Drivers assist with equipment retrieval and patient movement with the equipment typically found on an ambulance or other patient transport vehicle. The driver is a resource for routine transports and serves in the role of courier.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Minimum Requirements:

a. 18 years of age or older

b. Valid Driver’s License with driving record acceptable by motor vehicle insurance carrier

c. Current possession of or the ability to successfully complete within one (1) month of hire the following:

i. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)

ii. Valid BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA Preferred)

iii. IS 700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

iv. IS 100: Introduction to the ICS System

v. IS 200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response

vi. IS 800: National Response Framework, an Introduction

vii. Hazardous Materials (HAZ-MAT) Awareness (Meeting or exceeding OHSA 1910.120)

2. Education:

a. Possession of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

i. Preferred criteria include: Current or previous EMS certification or license (National or State)
