POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinates and provides professional nursing care to individuals or groups or patients with complex needs, according to established standards and practices. Provides leadership by working with all personnel to assure quality patient care is provided.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to patients while maintaining the highest standards of care.
Keeps self updated to changes in policies and procedures.
Reviews any procedures not frequently performed.
Demonstrates an understanding of equipment used in their department.
Maintains professional skills, growth and development by attending seminars, workshops and CEU activities.
Assesses patient condition and nursing needs.
Provides leadership for staff by assisting team members in giving care to patients or administering direct care using professional nursing skills and judgment.
Maintains the standards of care and implements the policies and procedures of the Hospital and Nursing Department.
Collaborates with other healthcare team members in the development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Ensures patient’s pain in managed to allow the highest level of comfort.
Administers medications and evaluates response of medications.
Follows Universal Precautions and Body Substance Isolation.
Maintains open lines of communication between patients, their families and the medical staff.
