POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of orthopedic patients, (including biological, social and psychological assessments). The APP coordinates involvement of medical/surgical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient, and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, peri-operative services, and coordinates discharge planning/follow-up (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.

Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Such service may include, but are not limited to.
Minimum Qualifications For Nurse Practitioner:
Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing

National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
|
Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
|
CNOR Certification.
|
BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
|
Department Specific: APRNs requesting to be privileged as First Assists in perioperative services will be required to have
ANOR approved RNFA Certification.
|
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the discretion of the department.
Eligible new graduates will be considered
|
Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant:
Bachelor’s Degree as Physician Assistant, or Master’s Degree as Physician Assistant required.
|
Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.
|
Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.
|
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine.
|
BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
|
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the discretion of the department.
Eligible new graduates will be considered.

This position will provide continuity of care for inpatients admitted to Orthopaedic services (general, Geri-trauma, med-hospitalists) including but not limited to order and review of admissions/order and interpret labs and diagnostic studies/daily notes/nursing inquiries/discharges/drain, wound vac, and wound care/plan for discharge disposition needs (including PT/OT/Care Management/ID and OPAT)/prepare and document discharge summaries for general Ortho., Orthopaedic Oncology, Spine, Trauma and admitted Sports Medicine
