Pediatric Cardiologist
Director Non-Invasive Imaging- Children’s Heart Center
West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a BC Pediatric Cardiologist qualified for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
The successful candidate will join our growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology and will support our patient population on the Children's Hospital campus and throughout the state through our robust pediatric cardiology outreach program that includes outreach clinics, telemedicine clinics and outreach diagnostic testing. We currently have specialists in the areas of general cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional catheterization, noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease and preventive cardiology.
Duties: The successful candidate will oversee and supervise all areas of non-invasive imaging services and practice general Pediatric Cardiology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. In addition, the successful applicant must have a fourth year of training in non-invasive imaging after three years of training in Pediatric Cardiology at an accredited fellowship program. At least five years of clinical experience in non-invasive imaging is preferable. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center for the state of West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Southeastern Ohio. We have the only cardiothoracic surgery program in the state, and we offer surgical interventions for the full range of congenital heart defects.
With an anticipated opening in 2022, our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds with 10 CICU beds, Heart Institute, and a dedicated Cancer Institute. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Women’s Pavilion will house a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.
