Senior User Experience Consultant

With exceptional listening and compassion skills, and the ability to translate Vancity's Good Money™ brand promise to our members, the ideal candidate will have 3+ years of user experience consulting experience.

The Senior User Experience Consultant reports directly into the Manager, User Experience & Digital Banking.

Key areas of accountability for this role are:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to design user centered approaches to strategic and technical projects
  • Provide UX leadership, coaching, and mentoring across cross-functional project teams
  • Prepare and deliver UX workshops
  • Design and conduct user research to identify and diagnose user needs, design end to end user experience (omni-channel), identify opportunities, challenges and risks in order to meet business objectives.
  • Convert research findings into actionable results, design recommendations and plans to inform the development of digital initiatives and strategies
  • Develop and maintain UX guidelines and tools (journey maps, personas etc) based on our differentiated member experience to ensure consistency across enterprise digital initiatives and optimize delivery.
  • Define, track and report on UX metrics and requirements for digital projects
  • Provide technical coaching, guidance and support to the User Experience Consultant and oversight to external UX vendors.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Advanced planning and coordination skills to develop business cases and project plans and to manage the full project lifecycle through all phases.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to manage key stakeholder interfaces for projects, present project highlights, and address project challenges and issues.
  • Solid knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of project management.
  • Solid problem solving and decision making skills to diagnose challenges and issues; develop innovative business solutions; and to assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit and or designated unit.
  • Solid research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action on industry, political and economic trends, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business unit and or designated area.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills as a facilitator and/or public speaker at meetings, presentations, community events.

Education:

  • The successful candidate will have a degree or certification in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Information Systems or User Experience.

Experience:

  • Expertise in User Centered Design, including user research, persona development, Information Architecture, journey mapping
  • Relationship building
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communication with all areas/levels of the organization
  • Experience working in agile teams
  • Perform well in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Keep up with the latest trends and research
