Description POSITION SUMMARY
The Educational Consultant is a Kelberman Center employee that serves as a consultant to the local schools with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADS) and provides leadership in the areas of program development, behavioral services and community outreach for the Kelberman Center. The Educational Consultant works with the Director of Consultation and Behavioral Services to provide educational and behavioral services using evidence-based practices in the autism field to area agencies, school districts and individual families.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver behavioral and educational consultation services to programs provided under the auspices of the Kelberman Center
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with key external organizations and resources including: school district, non-profit agencies, community professionals, and parents
• Design plans of service delivery to successfully meet the needs of the customer
• Prepare, submit, and maintain the timely completion of all necessary reports, records, and documentation
• Provide regular verbal and written communication to the Director of Consultation and Behavioral Services
• Design and deliver external staff development and community education programs, including presentation of trainings
• Supervise Kelberman Center support staff such as Behavior Specialists and Behavior Specialist Assistants
• Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards
• Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of Master Degree in Psychology or Special Education or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) population, including 2 years experience with both conducting functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and writing behavioral intervention plans (BIP). Five (5) additional years of experience are required if hold Bachelors Degree only.
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCABA) certification preferred.
• Prefer 2 years experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors, 1 year experience working in public schools, and 1 year experience in Applied Behavior Analysis.
• Basic Computer Skills (Windows, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel).
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
• This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) or OMH (Office of Mental Health).
• Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License
