Position Summary
The incumbent will support product or process development activities related to the development, design or manufacturing of NxStage Medical’s products.

Core Responsibilities
• Apply state of the art methods to the creation of new and existing circuit card design for NxStage products
• Participate in design or development of new medical devices and/or upgrades to existing products. Ensure all designs conform to established specifications.
• Assist with major projects, or phases of projects, to resolve advanced and complex technical problems
• Ensure all design activities conform to design controls. Ensure all analysis, design and testing activities are properly documented.
• Assist in Risk Analysis including, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities to ensure process shortcomings are identified and appropriately addressed
• Assist the product development team in the adoption and use of best practices and design methodologies
• Debugging new designs and developing reliability improvements to existing & new design
• Provide technical support for product engineering, design development, integration, test and
• evaluation
• Investigate the feasibility of new projects, systems or approaches
• Work with Quality Assurance and Research and Development to maintain an approved internal Quality System that meets the requirements of GMP’s, QSR and ISO 9001
• Support complex automated and semi-automated assembly and test equipment


Requirements Requirements:

• Candidate for BS in Chemical Engineering
• Basic understanding of common laboratory techniques such as:
• Buffer preparation
• Use of Analytical Balance
• Transferring powders and liquids
• Make accurate dilutions of concentrates
• Understand basic nomenclature of concentration
• Experience in a general chemistry lab with a basic understanding of general lab safety
• Good documentation practices – ability to adhere to internal procedures for lab notebook keeping
• Basic ability to work with tubing and pumps for basic test setup assembly
• Basic ability to understand water system product design, systems and manufacturing validation, solutions manufacturing, manufacturing engineering support and/or process development
• Entry level understanding of product and process development and validation of medical devices or pharmaceuticals
• Basic knowledge of FDA GMP’s (21 CFR Part 820). ISO experience a plus
• Basic ability to work with suppliers and/or third party distributors is a plus
