POSITION PURPOSE

Provides preventive maintenance to all converting and packaging equipment servicing the New York manufacturing plant. Develops and maintains preventative maintenance programs, spare parts inventory, and calibration system in a manner to ensure compliance, maximize production, and reduce costs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Services New York Production Department. Utilizes engineering as a resource for technical training, spare parts manufacturing and equipment upgrades. Budgetary responsibility approximately $1.5MM
Analyzes and develops plans for the prevention of equipment related downtime.
Leads operational excellence initiatives relative to maintenance programs
Directs activities of maintenance staff in preventive maintenance, spare parts stocking, and calibrations.
System owner of Purified Water System and support equipment (boiler, chiller).
System owner of Compressed Air infrastructure including compressors, dryers, filters/separators.
Oversees and/or administers detailed maintenance record keeping for the purpose of cGMP compliance and cost reduction efforts. System owner of CMMS for spare parts inventory and PM acivities.
Prepares annual labor and expense operating budgets, evaluates and ensures achievement of budget objectives.
Maintains compliance to safety and quality requirements on all production and shop equipment.
Hires, trains, and counsels maintenance staff. Provides performance evaluations, and recommends salary changes.



PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
1. Schedule attainment/equipment uptime
2. Waste/Scrap data
3. Timeliness of work order and calibration executions
4. Audit observations

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Must have general knowledge of packaging equipment principles.
Basic understanding of electronics.
Knowledge of computerized parts inventory systems and preventive maintenance programs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five to ten years managing converting/packaging maintenance in a mechanically intense operation.
Prior experience in parts management, calibration, and purchasing required.
Water system experience required.
Compressed air system experience required
Experience with production and maintenance operational excellence programs (lean, six sigma, SMED, etc.)

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to excel in a fast paced, 24 hour environment.
Ability to hire, train, and evaluate performance of reports
