The Scientist II position is key member of the PDI organization and the R&D Environment of Care Product development team. This individual will assist in product development, batching, trialing, and monitoring an array of products in support of our PDI Contract Manufacturing business. Key focus areas will include sample, documentation, and production preparation as it pertains to the product development process and product improvements. activities focused on new product development and product improvements.

The position will require cross-functional interaction, communication, and partnership with cross functional team members, especially Packaging, Microbiology, Analytical, Quality Control, Regulatory, Operations, and Contract Manufacturing teams to ensure critical milestones are completed and deliverables met. The position will also be customer facing and require ability to translate, convey and guide the customer on R&D results.


a. Formulation knowledge and good understanding of chemical interactions
b. Ability to generate and follow manufacturing instructions for lab-scale formulations
c. Capability to translate research and development data into technical reports

a. Batching of lab-scale formulations
b. Setting up and monitoring stability studies for lab-scale and production trial samples of formulations and finished product
c. Strong observational skills and timely communication of progress and results
d. Ability to generate technical reports and maintain an accurate laboratory notebook
e. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements throughout the product development process

• Test and evaluate products and prototypes, comparing to benchmarks or competitor products, makes product samples for key customer requirements, laboratory evaluation, efficacy and consumer testing
• Analyzes data and prepares technical reports and summaries
• Plans and supports product scale up, line trials, and generates trial reports and recommendations
• Writes product and raw materials specifications and technical supporting documents
• Analyses competitor products and evaluates raw materials used
• Plans own workload to ensure tasks, objectives, and key deliverables completed on time and in full
• Supports the development and launch of multiple new products, with minimal supervision
• Able to lead cross-functional teams, while representing R&D

6. Capability to manage multiple projects as R&D lead on cross-functional Core team

• University Degree in Science or Engineering required
• Masters an advantage

Previous experience in a R&D lab is required

• 3-5 years of work experience in a R&D laboratory
• Previous experience interfacing as R&D lead to customers/sales/marketing
• Previous experience with wipes/nonwovens is advantageous
• Project management experience is a plus
• Experience with FDA drug products is a plus

• Ability to support key projects through the product development process
• Ability to batch lab-scale quantities of specified formulations
• Ability to work on multiple projects of varying complexity
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Team player
• Good organizational skills and time management skills
• Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
• Maintain accurate records including laboratory notebooks
• Ability to compile and maintain product Design History Files (DHF)
• Computer literate (Outlook/Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
• Follow safety and lab maintenance procedures
• Adaptable learner
• Enjoys fast pace environment with varied work

About 50% Lab and 50% office environment
