POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to lead business critical activities relating to the development and commercialization of nonwoven materials. The Nonwovens Engineer 2 is a high visibility position supporting the product development Core Team and is the primary technical contact for our suppliers and internal manufacturing sites for the optimization, development and commercialization of wet wipes. The Nonwoven Engineer 2 will work with a broad range of manufacturing and technical resources at our suppliers and internal manufacturing sites to support achieving our objectives. The Nonwovens Engineer 2 will lead the day to day technical communication with our suppliers and work closely with the Core Team Members to identify, develop and commercialize new products. In addition, the Nonwovens Engineer 2 will lead the day to day testing to determine the performance of nonwovens and finished product and will coordinate the testing of the suppliers and internal lab support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

a. Analyze data and provide insights and recommendations based on the data
b. Support material or process projects from conception through commercialization.
c. Plan and carry out projects with direction from management.
d. Communicate and document project plans and results to key customers and suppliers.
e. Deliver on project objectives in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of Nonwoven Fabrics/Laminates after receiving functional guidance.
f. Support the protection of technologies, processes, materials, and products through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
g. Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause, develop and recommend solutions.
h. Develops and tests new wet wipe prototypes to support the growth objectives of the business
i. Tests products and prototypes, comparing to benchmarks or competitor products for marketing presentations, laboratory evaluation, consumer and clinical testing
j. Leads product scale up and line trials and writes trial reports
k. Develops and validates test methods to evaluate performance of products and prototypes
l. Writes SOPs and specifications
m. Analyses competitor products and evaluates raw materials used
n. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for prototype development
o. Writes meeting minutes and meeting summaries

1. Meet key project targets & milestones for Core Team product development projects and portfolio.
2. Deliver on commercialization and optimization of nonwovens and finished product
3. Delivery of reports and analysis in a timely manner

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in a scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
• Demonstrated success in delivering against business critical objectives
• Demonstrated success in working as a team player with both internal and external colleagues
• Consumer Package Goods experience an advantage
• A demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes
• Computer literate (Outlook / Word / Excel)
• Strong communication skills (verbal / written)
• Adaptable learner
• Able to work in a fast pace environment with varied work
• Previous experience working in R&D

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering discipline

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Strong scientific principles(statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, Problem solving, root cause analysis)
Understanding of nonwovens, nonwovens manufacturing processes and the nonwovens supply chain

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
2+ years of experience in a nonwovens technical function or related technical function (technical textiles, fibers, etc.) with an understanding of the materials and processes within the nonwoven and wipes supply chain

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• MS Office, statistical analysis, strong communication skills
• Previous experience of Wipes / NW / Packaging / formulation required / advantageous
• Proven track record of developing and launching new products
• Proven track record of developing people and cross-functional teams

WORKING CONDITIONS

CORPORATE / WAREHOUSE ENVIRONMENT / LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT / HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT Primarily laboratory environment with some manufacturing at both internal and supplier sites. Travel both domestically and abroad.
