POSITION PURPOSE

This position is a member of the R&D Analytical team and will work to support development and continued improvement of disinfectants, antiseptics and cleaning products in Healthcare and Professional Food service businesses.
The primary function of this position is to lead new improvements in marketed products through assay testing, stability studies, organizing external testing partnerships, developing and validating test methods, and writing protocols and reports.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES


RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT:
a. Performs analytical testing according to regulatory (EPA and FDA) requirements.
b. Supervises technical sub-team and manages internal priorities.
c. Designs and executes stability experiments.
d. Oversee external analytical studies, as needed.
e. Develop and validate analytical tests, methods, and instruments.
f. Write test methods, SOPs, validation, stability, and project reports.

LABORATORY SUPPORT:
a. Maintain analytical equipment and optimize laboratory space to ensure an efficient flow of work.
b. Create new SOPs where gaps exist. Maintain SOP version revisions for continuous improvement initiatives.
c. Create efficiencies in analytical processes through optimization of methods, documentation, and laboratory workflows.

FORMULATION AND REGULATORY SUPPORT:
a. Help formulators to design experiments to test product prototypes.
b. Adhere to strict timelines and communicate testing status to the larger formulation team.
c. Prepare technical reports and technical presentations for internal meetings.
d. Provide analytical support to regulatory, as needed.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• Bachelors degree in Chemistry
• Ph.D. or advanced degree in Chemistry preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
• Proficient with a variety of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC-FID, LC/MS, and titrations.
• Strong analytical chemistry, method development and validation understanding.
• Working knowledge of EPA and FDA regulations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 7+ years of R&D working experience
• Demonstrated ability to develop new methods.
• Proficient with a variety of analytical test methods.
• Experience in working in GxP laboratory facilities.
• Technical mentorship of junior scientists or technicians.
• Previous experience managing external testing partnerships advantageous.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Excellent communication skills (verbal / written). Ability to explain science to management, and provide detail to junior lab personnel.
• Highly motivated to work as a member of a nimble team. Embraces change and risk, and exhibits flexibility.
• Exhibits excellent organization, planning and multi-tasking skills; able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
• Computer literate (MS 365, Empower, Electronic Notebook).
