Description SUMMARY: Depending on the complexity of the lighting fixture the assembly line may consist of six or seven positions with assemblers performing various tasks to assemble complete lighting fixtures. Positions have different demands.
Typical assembly sequence: Position # 1 worker stakes bodies and installs ballast(s). Position #2 has two assemblers across from each other installing ends. Position #3 has two assemblers across from each other wiring sockets, and installing socket plates. Position # 4 may have 1 or 2 assemblers wiring, installing lamps and testing fixtures. Position # 5 depending on fixture configuration may have 2 assemblers working across from each other installing lamps, reflectors, covers, and doors. Position # 6 Packer(s) - depending on the length and weight of the fixture may have 2 workers working together; lifting fixture from the conveyor to a packing table 3 – 4 ft away. Packers carry the boxed fixture to a skid 5 to 6 ft away. Boxes are stacked from 8” to 60” high on a skid. Assemblers are required to rotate job tasks every 4 hours. Tools frequently used: In-line pneumatic guns, non-suspended pneumatic pistol grip guns, pop rivet guns, pliers and wire strippers. May occasionally use pneumatic drill guns and screw drivers for minor assembly tasks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Retrieves fixture housing and ballasts.
• Assemble fixture housing with ground wire and ballasts.
• Assemble wiring and sockets.
• Install socket plates, lamps, reflectors, covers and doors.
• Packers are required to lift and stack the fixtures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

_____Level 2: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 3: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 4: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 5: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 6: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 7: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 8: Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
_____Level 9: Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
_____Level 6 _ Highest Skills: Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
