JOB SUMMARY                        Part Time Only

Responsible for the programmatic and operational execution of the assigned Center facility. Directs and manages overall daily operations of a Center under the control of the organization with the primary concern for comprehensive, outcome-driven programs and service delivery. Supervise and train staff/volunteers (direct and indirect reports), handle personnel issues, maintain facility and equipment, develop and manage a budget, engage and support a Unit Advisory Council, establish community relations and manage membership administration.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Leadership

  • Establish Center programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the operations of the Center.
  • Serve as liaison for the Board’s Program Committee Members.
  • Implement and comply with the internal processes established by the organization.
  • Supervise assigned personnel:
  • Supervision requirements include: recruitment, ongoing training and development, performance evaluation, recognition, discipline, problem resolution, and complaint management of personnel; plan, assign and direct projects.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Center’s overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated mission, vision objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
  • Promote the analysis and integrity of data regarding youth participation, youth outcomes and community outcomes.
  • Ensure continuous growth of members and the development of the Center’s programs.

 

Resource Management

  • Manage all grants that fund the Center’s operations, provide accurate and timely information and implement all of the programmatic requirements.
  • Manage Center’s financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget.
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly and annual reports of the Center’s performance with grants, BGCA and the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Assure the daily operations complies with the Child Care Licensing and Food Program requirements.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Center, including use of facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies and agencies (Food program, child care regulations etc.).
  • Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meetings.

 

Partnership Development

  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
  • Assume a leadership role in the community served.
  • Establish relationships with other nonprofit organizations, school and agencies based on the needs of the community.

 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Center and the community.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Purchase or approve purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Implement the objectives, goals and metrics of the organization.
  • Promote the continuous improvement of services and development of staff.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

 

Relationships

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Center professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission and vision, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintains contact with organization’s Board. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise and counsel.

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Center.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • BA degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Services or Recreation.
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
  • Knowledge of youth development programs preferred; experience in the practices of Child Care (or comparable child development programs).
  • Ability to use Microsoft office products: Outlook, WORD, Excel, member tracking software
  • Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community.
  • Ability to track and report program outcomes.
  • Effective writing and oral communication skills to conduct meetings and training sessions, and to prepare reports that are clear, complete, comprehensive and use good grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications within 90 days of hire
  • Valid State Driver’s License – requires driving Club vehicles.

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally required to lift, transport items that may weigh 25 lbs. or less. Requires driving a motor vehicle.
