JOB SUMMARY

Upward Bound Project Advisor (FT)

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth is currently accepting resumes for Upward Bound Project Advisor. Upward Bound Project Advisor is responsible for the delivery of program services and activities as stipulated in approved grant proposal(s) as well as compliance with legislation and regulations for the TRiO Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Project Advisor is responsible for recruitment; selection; assessment; supervision; and year-end evaluation of all project participants; monitors participants’ academic progress; and provides academic advising and career information.

·         Assists the Director in the supervision of assigned tutorial site(s) and teaches career/educational courses during the Academic Year and Summer Component.

·         The Advisor assists the Director in the management of the project database and student files.

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; preferred degrees include Education, Social Work, Counseling and Psychology.

·         Position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience working with students and parents who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education and minimum of 1 year experience assessing academic needs, developing individual educational plans, and providing assistance or advising students with postsecondary enrollment.

·         Must be able to work day and evening hours with ability to work some nights and weekends.

·         Candidates must pass all background screens and drug screen at any time.

·         Candidates must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties.
