JOB SUMMARY

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, faith based, nonprofit organization, seeks an Boys & Girls Club Unit Director for The Salvation Army Plano Corps. Plans, coordinates and directs all youth activities and programs for the Boys & Girls Club; plans and coordinates fund-raising and recruitment events; recruits and supervises all assigned staff and volunteers; maintains all program equipment; plans and coordinates a youth mentor ship program; represents the Club in the community and builds a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation planning and management.
• Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and fund-raising.
• Ability to serve as an athletic coach and to coordinate athletic games.
• Ability to recruit, train and supervise volunteers.
• Ability to promote and encourage good sportsmanship.
• Ability to promote the Club and to recruit youth participation.
• Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Child Development, Education, Business Administration, Ministry, or a related field, AND two years’ experience participating in and coordinating similar youth programming OR any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Ability to pass all state licensing background checks.
• Child Care License Director Certificate or Obtain License within 90 days of employment
• Valid State Driver's License
• Valid Class B CDL or Obtain license within 90 days of employment
• First Aid and C.P. R. Certification (or ability to obtain within established time frame)
