JOB SUMMARY

The Program Director reports to the Club Director and serves as the RBI Commissioner during the Baseball season. The purpose of his/her position is to interpret, plan and carry out all aspects of programming, operations, supervision at Club One. The Program Director provides leadership for the effective development, planning and implementation of all programs, activities and special events. In the absence of the Club Director, the Program Director provides leadership, and support to the Club’s coordinators. He/she keeps records and coordinates operations, marketing and outreach efforts. He/she files, maintains schedules, and oversees the timely submission of reports.

 

Scope of Authority

The Program Director’s direct supervisor is the Club Director who has final decision-making authority. The Program Director supervises some part time employees, planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting of all programs, activities and special events implemented at the Club; and facilitates a positive environment for all staff, club members, parents and community partners.

 

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Club Director, the Program Director is responsible for providing support, running programs and resources for all Club program areas and to facilitate an environment conducive for program excellence and for growth of staff, and club members. This position includes planning, filing, record keeping, reporting, scheduling and assisting program coordinators as needed; including facilities management and parents’/community relations. The Program Director is part of the Club’s Vision 20/20 Strategy Implementation Team.

 

General

·         In coordination with the Club Director and the Club Coordinators, the Program Director, runs programs, provides guidance and supervision to some program staff for the successful implementation of all club programs, activities and special events.

·         Provides support to the Club’s Operations Team as needed.

·         Develop objectives consistent with club’s program goals and mission.

·         Review, file, report and maintain all program and logistical records.

·         Serves as baseball commissioner May thru August.

·         Staff and volunteer orientation

·         Conduct staff evaluations

 

Program Implementation

·         In coordination with the Coordinators Team, develop program strategies and logistics, supervise some program part time staff and provide leadership in planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting all programs, activities and special events at Club One.

·         Includes the following programs:

o    Gym activities

o    Sports leagues and clinics

o    Social recreation and games room

o    Implementation of SMART Programs

o    Leadership Development

o    Educational Programs

o    Summer Day Camp

o    Summer Resident Camp

o    Cadets Program

o    Other programs as indicated by the Program Team and organizational goals

·         Maintain yearly files, information, literature and meeting minutes of all programs, activities and special events.

 

RBI Program (Revival of Baseball in Inner City)

·         Under the supervision of the Club Director, the Program Director is responsible for the effective implementation of the RBI Program (Revival of Baseball in Inner City)

·         The Program Director is responsible to serve as Commissioner for reviewing all coaches and assistant coaches’ documentation and criminal background checks and drug testing

·         Develop Umpire lists for all games

·         Management of RBI Budgets

·         Review membership documentation and waiver forms for all players

·         Revise and enforce RBI regulations

·         Secure fields and permits; and inspect fields for safety and playing conditions

·         Inventory of equipment and review of RBI Teams equipment needs

·         Obtain and coordinate all-stars’ regional teams

·         Implement post-seasonal schedules and secure fields

·         Supervise all RBI staff and all RBI teams

 

Vision20/20

·         Quarterly review Vision 20/20 Strategies and adjust planning and implementation as needed.

·         Support the Program Team in the effective planning and implementation of all yearly Vision 20/20 strategies and activities

·         Other responsibilities as directed by the Club Director.

 

Other Responsibilities

·         Monitors staff and volunteer performance, providing feedback and regular appraisal

·         Ensures coordinators have tools or training needed to complete tasks

·         Ensures that staff are certified in First Aid/CPR, Kid’s Cafe, and Mandated Reporter

·         Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned staff and Volunteers

·         Ensure Club Attendance goals are on target by working with schools, attending community events, etc.

·         Responsible for collecting outcome measurements such as pre and post-test assessments for grant deliverables and BGCA

·         Ensures programs are evaluated for outcomes, effectiveness, and level of participation

·         Create program schedules and rotation three times a year (two school semesters and summer)

·         Coordinate special events for the club or organization and attend community events on behalf of the club

·         Ensures that regular emergency drills are conducted as scheduled

·         Communicates with parents and families to make them aware of member achievements and difficulties

·         Shares program information with parents and families

·         Closes and opens the facility

 

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         B.A. degree or B.S. degree or equivalent experience.

·         At least two years’ work experience in staff supervision, program development, planning, implementation and administration.

·         Ability to work in a team driven environment.

·         Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.

·         Demonstrated organizational, staff supervision, program and project management skills.

·         Ability to plan, originate, and carry out the daily operations of the Boys & Girls Club.

·         Experience in a leadership role, especially relating to athletic program management.

·         Ability to self-direct.

·         Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.

·         Ability to work well with youth and adults.

·         Ability to accept supervision and guidance.

·         Experience in purchasing, money management and working with budgets.

·         Experience in personnel supervision and guidance.

·         Good character, integrity and adaptability.

·         Ability to recognize and identify risk situations and practice good risk management skills at all times.

·         Enthusiasm, good judgment, patience and self-control.

·         Positive example for youth and peers in appearance, attitude and behavior.
