JOB SUMMARY

Directs and Manage overall daily operations of a Unit under the control of the organization with the primary concern for comprehensive, outcome-driven programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, personnel issues (with in the unit) facilities management, develop and manage a budget, actively engage and support a Unit Advisory Council, community relations, volunteers and membership administration.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Establish Unit programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of organizational mission and outcomes.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Unit overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
  • Provides direct supervision of all activities during Unit operating hours.
  • Manage Unit financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget.
  • Create purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies.
  • Ability to recruit, supervise, motivate staff, and provide career development opportunities for unit staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • Maintain accurate membership information.
  • Assist with Fundraisers as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Four year degree for accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the operation of a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • A combination of work experience and education may be substituted Skills and Traits.
  • Serve as a mission-led and outcome driven “culture builder” to ensure that the values and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany are maintained.
  • Deliver services and resources to internal and external customers, guided by the highest standards of integrity, innovation and teamwork.
  • Ability to oversee the development and implementation of relevant programs for youth and in designated area of content expertise.
  • Ability to use data and to develop, assess and refine programmatic strategies based on evidence and metrics.
  • Command of youth development trends, regularly benchmarking the initiatives of peer organizations to ensure that all programs, training and initiatives are meet the needs and interests of members.
  • Drive content strategy and the organizational mission, serving as a brand ambassador to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present oneself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Able to present to a range of audiences.
  • Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff while advancing organizational impact, maximizing human capital and resources, and ensuring impact for youth.
  • Provide innovative leadership in executing all programmatic and training/learning expenditures within budget.
  • Provide leadership for the development of learning experiences for Boys & Girls Club professionals to support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Lead the establishment, planning and implementation of designated advisory councils and committees.
  • Develop organizational talent by providing coaching, feedback, staff development plans and performance management to designated staff.
  • Supervise recruitment, selection, evaluation and retention of all assigned personnel, and observe, analyze and share perceptions and business results. Budget and Resource Management • Manage Unit financial resources strategically.

  • Work closely with Director of Programs & Outcome Measurements for grant implementation, data tracking and grant reporting.
  • Develop schedule of programs that includes both short-term and long-term planning and meets national and local program goals. Support full-time and part-time staff in their program development and implementation efforts

  • Update and maintain skills in use of current technology and information management Systems Relationships Internal: Maintain daily contact with Club staff, including full time, part time, program and volunteers, to discuss issues challenges and opportunities; provide and receive information as warranted; provide guidance and discipline to members; maintain weekly contact with Director of Programs & Outcome Measurements External: Maintain contact with other youth-serving agencies and parents of members and other youth served.

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Valid (state) driver’s license
  • Meet the eligibility of insurance company regulations for operating Club vehicle(s).
  • Environmental and working conditions: All work is conducted in a Club setting, indoors and outside. Limited travel is required.
  • Physical and mental requirements: Demonstrated ability to: maintain a high energy level, be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities, regularly speak clearly and hear the spoken word, good Reasoning abilities and sound judgment, must be able to lift and move objects has heavy as 40 lbs., ability to get along with diverse personalities
