Being a Unit Director is the most important and most difficult job at a Boys & Girls Club. It requires a love of kids, good management skills and a strong work ethic. It will be your Club, and you will be held to a high standard of excellence. If you are looking for an easy job, this is definitely not it!
Additional Roles and Responsibilities
· As a club representative, conduct yourself professionally and ethically both inside and outside the club at all times in word, actions and appearance
· Maintain close, daily contact with the club professional staff
· Establish unit activities and services that enrich and prepare youth for success and that create a wholesome club environment
· Strategically grow the programming and membership of the unit
· Ensure a safe environment
· Manage, clean and maintain facilities, equipment and supplies
· Compile regular reports reflecting activities, attendance and participation (computer skills helpful)
· Manage unit financial resources, control expenditures, clearly document, avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
· Recruit, manage and provide career development for assigned staff and volunteers
· Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations
· Assume other duties as assigned
· Appropriately discipline club members (no hitting or belittling)
· Be healthy enough to remain on feet most of the day and regularly lift 40 lbs.
· Maintain a good driving record to remain insurable for the transporting of club kids. Once hired, a CDLshould be obtained.
