JOB SUMMARY      Part Time Only

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County - (Shelbyville Club) is looking for energetic and responsible employees who have a passion for working with children to join our organization. Under the supervision and guidance of the Club Unit Director or Designee, a CDL Bus Driver is responsible for in transporting members to and from various locations.

Key Roles

  • Transport members, following a pre-planned route per a definite time schedule
  • Regulate heating equipment and ventilation of bus for the comfort of passengers
  • Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety of children in loading, unloading and transporting them
  • Instructs members in safety precautions and practices
  • Signals members when to cross street or highway and assures that children are safely across upon departure form bus
  • Maintains discipline, reports any unruly behavior to a supervisor
  • Inspects and sweeps bus
  • Checks water, gas, oil, and mechanical condition before leaving
  • Reports delays and accidents
  • Keeps operational records and makes simple reports
  • Reports defects or problems with the vehicle to a supervisor
  • Performs related work as required

Additional Information

  • Shift schedule:  Monday - Friday After school – approximately 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High School or completion of GED;
  • State issued Commercial Driver’s License;
  • Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations;
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time;
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc.;
  • Ability to meet physical demands;
  • Ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds.
