JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Programs & Operations and Area Director with general responsibility to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Boys & Girls Club program. To provide direct supervision to all unit staff, both paid and volunteer. Collect and verify program statistics and make periodic reports to the Area Director. To promote and stimulate interest in the Commitment to Quality Standards Program and activities of the Boys & Girls Clubs. To ensure that the facility and equipment are properly maintained. To assist the Director of Programs & Operations / Area Director in the administration and management of the unit as it applies to financial development, public relations, and staff development always adhering to the Commitment to Quality Program standards and policies of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, Inc.

 

Key Roles

Program Development

  • Designs and develops program goals and objectives in close cooperation with the Director of Programs & Operations / Area Director.
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates quarterly programs for the Unit that accomplish the Commitment to Quality Program standards and objectives of the Unit and Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, Inc. within the scope of available resources.
  • Directs and conducts program activities in the Social Leadership Development department.
  • Insures the planning and implementing of Commitment to Quality Program standards in Cultural Enrichment and Health/P.E. Departments.
  • Plans and supervises special events and field trips.
  • Monitors the progress of Commitment to Quality Program standards.

 

Membership Development

  • Promotes interest and participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs and its programs.
  • Insures the maintenance of individual membership process and records.
  • Conducts new member orientation programs.
  • Insures the Club has a positive environment, providing informal and formal guidance to individual members.
  • Insures age group programming to meet the needs and interest of members insuring member input into Club operation.
  • Promotes member recognition in all programs.

 

Staff Supervision

  • Supervises all Unit staffing insuring their functions are being successfully accomplished.
  • Assist the Director of Programs & Operations / Area Director with recruiting, hiring, and evaluation all part-time staff. Maintains time sheets and other needed personnel records for the unit.
  • Conducts performance appraisal on all part-time, and volunteer staff.
  • Conducts him/her self and insures staff operates under personnel policies and procedures and the Club’s Commitment to Quality Program standards of operation.

 

Facility and Equipment Maintenance

  • Insures facilities are maintained at all times in a safe, clean, and neat manner.
  • Promptly makes requests for needed repairs
  • Conducts and maintains an updated inventory.
  • Promotes preventative maintenance and energy management for the unit.

 

Public Relations

  • Establishes links with other community agencies that can and will assist the Boys & Girls Clubs in different program areas.

 

End Results

  • Commitment to Quality Program standards and objectives will relate to the needs and interest of Club members and the community.
  • Programs will be conducted in all core program areas:
  • Cultural Enrichment
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Social Recreation
  • Personal and Educational Development
  • Citizenship and Leadership Development
  • Outdoor and Environmental Education
  • Staff and volunteers will function at the optimum level.
  • A positive climate that promotes interest and growth of club members will be apparent.
  • The membership goal will be accomplished by the use of a written plan of action and steps by the Program Coordinator for each year.
  • The club will operate at the optimum daily attendance.
  • The community will be better informed resulting in increased community support.
  • The facility and equipment will be clean and in good condition at all times.
  • All records will be maintained properly and reports submitted that are accurate and timely.
  • Must be able to attend all meetings, trainings and conferences required for this position.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs & Operations / Area Director and required by grants.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of one-year experience in a Boys & Girls Club or related field.
  • Have demonstrated competence in delivery of program services, good human relation skills, and good communication skills, both oral and written.
