JOB SUMMARY

An exciting opportunity to lead the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas located in Killeen, Texas is open and we are looking for our next Chief Executive Officer to make a positive impact on kid’s lives.  We are looking for candidates that will lead the overall planning and operation of the organization while providing leadership, direction and support to the Board of Directors.

 

Boys & Girls Clubs mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.  You will be responsible for bringing this mission to life in this community, as you work to ensure that the kids and teens in your care achieve great futures by providing a safe and fun space, an engaging Club Experience and managing caring professionals to guide them along the way.

 

As a proof point, 54% of Club alumni said the Club saved their life, so the impact you and your team will have on these kids and teens lives will be life-changing.

 

To oversee the strategic planning and operation of the Club each element of operation should be consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. To provide leadership, direction, and support to all Club staff in carrying out key roles assigned to them. To assists the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals, attaining and allocating resources, and establishing policies to be enforced within the organization.

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure effective daily operations and the delivery of programs suited for each Club within the community
  • Support and follow through with the organization’s mission and goals
  • Ensure an environment that helps facilitate the development of youth for success
  • Ensure programs, services, and other activities support youth development outcomes
  • Ensure the establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures within the organization

 

Strategic Planning

  • Development and supervise the strategic planning process. Ensure that the strategic plan is implemented
  • Seek opportunities to improve and set strategies to implement these plans for the improvement to take place.

 

Board Development

  • Identify, recruit and develop effective board members to participate in strategic planning
  • Actively encourage participation from board members. Ensure proper roles and expectations are provided to each board member. Continued contact with board members to provide any information needed to fulfill their objectives

 

Resource Development

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the Club's annual budget, controlling expenditures within budget and maintaining donor and financial records in accordance with standards
  • Ensure that the organization has adequate cash flow to execute programs and other special activities
  • Conduct visits with development staff and board members to determine the financial development and what strategic plans are needed for implementation

 

Resource Management

  • Ensure development, implementation, and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget
  • Ensure all necessary administrative and operational systems are in place to support effective operations within the Club
  • Encourage effective performance levels by all Club staff. Monitor productivity and performance of all employees. Effectively communicate ideas and feedback to ensure quality staff performance

 

Technology

  • Assist in the implementation of updating existing technology and resources:
  • Ensure the acquisition and allocation of funds to provide resources for update in the organization
  • Ensure maintenance of the Club’s technology and information systems

 

Partnership Development

  • Develop strategic alliances with community leaders, local officials, and other influential persons
  • Develop partnerships with other similar youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders, and any other relevant community organizations

 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Increase visibility of Club development activities and maintain good public relations

 

Relationships

Internal:  Maintain oral and written contact with Board of Directors, Club staff, volunteers, and Club members.

External:  Maintain oral and written contact with other agencies, potential and current donors, business leaders, community leaders, board of directors of such organizations, parents, school officials, and the media for the purpose of exchanging and receiving information.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Board of Directors may assign additional duties, special projects, etc. periodically to be completed for the organization.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is desirable
  • A minimum of five to seven years’ experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or youth organization, with at least two years’ experience in a leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of a youth organization, the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations and resource development activities and sources of funding
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan, and coordinate operations
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies
  • Basic knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
