JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the President/CEO, the Vice President of Operations & Program Services is responsible for providing leadership, direction and strategic guidance to units/branches/facilities operations, and for providing strategic and visionary leadership by overseeing the implementation of research-based youth development programming that drives educational outcomes in support of BGCCG’s Mission and Vision.

 

Key Roles

Leadership

·         Invests resources in well-designed innovation initiatives

·         Creates a structure to deliver organization-wide results to achieve objectives

·         Determines benchmarks and ensures appropriate leadership to meet objectives

·         Lead the development and implementation of organizational program goals, in relations to need and available resources, to facilitate achievement of National Youth Outcomes

·         Ensures the operational growth of the BGCCG by identifying potential areas for cooperative programming, program expansion, member recruitment and retention, new site strategies, and community collaborations

·         Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads BGCCG staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities

·         Oversees a program evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to the BGCCG cause, and a high quality commitment to BGCA standards

·         Provide penetrating insight and strong strategic and critical thinking skills

·         Direct supervision and leadership development of all Unit/Branch Directors/Managers, and other assigned staff

 

Strategic Planning

·         Effectively drives change by leveraging resources and creating alignment to expand organizational opportunities

·         Evaluate overall program effectiveness on the basis of participation and achievement of stated goals; recommends modifications to improve program performance and impact, as appropriate

·         Board Development

·         Serve as the primary staff support to the Board Program Review Committee, Facilities Committee, and other committees as assigned

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Demonstrates passionate leadership for the BGCCG by having an executive presence to ensure short and long term BGCCG success.

·         Supervises unit directors to assure sound operations. Provides leadership and direction by coaching and mentoring directors and by providing overall direction to volunteers.

·         Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.

·         Develops, implements, monitors and achieves monthly financial operating budgets to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled. Takes appropriate action to correct variances.

·         Ensures the operational growth of the BGCCG through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site and program development, and collaborations.

·         Identifies potential areas for cooperative programming to accomplish BGCCG goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.

·         Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO. Provides staff leadership to assigned committees of the Board of Directors to help build volunteer relationships, recommend policies, oversee policy implementation and meet the related needs of the board.

·         Implements and oversees a program and membership satisfaction evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to the B&GC’s cause, and a high quality commitment to B&GC standards.

·         Monitor performance and outcomes of BGCCG programs, operations and direct staff. 

·         Directs, implements and evaluates program objectives and plans consistent with strategic objectives of the organization. Ensures that clubs and programs are managed with a high level of competence and that services are responsive to the needs of the members and community.

·         Participates in strategic planning efforts and develops the annual club/unit operating plan of the BGCCG to support the strategic plan.

·         Develops and directs high quality club/unit member engagement strategies and programs which support BGCCG mission, goals, and strategies and ensures all programs meet all regulations, licensing requirement and certifications as they apply.

 

Relationships

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with assigned Directors and other staff to provide technical assistance in matters of programming and operations; interacts regularly with President/CEO and as assigned with the Board and its Committees

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club activities/events.

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or related field of study from an accredited college or university is required.

·         5 – 7 years’ of progressive operations management experience in a non-profit agency.

·         Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and sound financial practices.

·         Understanding of the nature and purpose of the BGC and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

·         Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

·         Strong oral and written communication skills, with good public presentation skills.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with club/branch staff, board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.

·         Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license and certification in Red Cross First Aid and CPR.
