JOB SUMMARY                  Part Time position only.

The Group Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, and teaching one or more of the educational, life skills, sports and/or cultural activities that are components of Caring People Alliance’s 21st Century Community Learning Center (21stCCLC) programming, under the direction of the 21st CCLC Program Director. The 21stCCLC supervises two or more Youth Development Specialists. 21stCCLC program activities are structured around an evening program that will support high school students’ academic needs through STEM programming, Boys & Girls Clubs of America learning and literacy activities, tutoring and homework help, life skills, college and career planning and goal setting, arts, and physical activity. Must be able to drive a passenger van; must possess a current driver’s license, with no outstanding violations. This position works weekday evening hours.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies, plans, develops, implements, coordinates, supervises, and monitors new and revised programs, services, and activities that promote the mission of the Clubs, and that meet the needs of the members and the community.
  • Supervises, administers, schedules, delivers, coordinates, and participates in one or more ongoing programs, services, and activities of the Learning Center during regularly scheduled workdays; some weekends required occasionally.
  • Assists the Program Director and Director of Quality Management to recruit, select, and retain staff, members, and volunteers.
  • Under the supervision of the Program Director, develops and produces promotional materials and promotional campaigns; ensures effective public relations efforts, such as timely publication and distribution of announcements, schedules, invitations, activities, etc.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, counsel, and direction to members, staff, participants, and volunteers; motivates members to active involvement in programs and activities; obtains approval for staff support when needed.
  • Implements, and administers outcomes-based evaluation process for all programs and activities, in compliance with 21stCCLC and Boys & Girls Clubs of America requirements.
  • Ensures proper staffing, participation, and performance.
  • Ensures compliance with all accounting processes and requirements for 21stCCLC programming.
  • Ensures compliance with government, funding source, and CPA regulations and requirements in accordance with established policy and procedure.
  • Prepares routine reports to management; ensures complete, accurate, and accessible files and records for program activities, finances, and operations.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of supplies and equipment; orders additional and replacement supplies and equipment within budget; ensures neat, clean, and secure storage for supplies and equipment.
  • Meets with CPA management, peers, staff, members, parents, families, schools, 21st CCLC affiliated oversight bodies, volunteers, government and community agencies, etc. to maximize services, minimize costs, identify and resolve problems, etc.
  • Develops knowledge, awareness, and working relationships with social, educational, and human services programs and other resources associated with the 21stCCLC program.
  • Ensures that program environment is neat, clean, and safe for staff and for members; ensures compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Ability to provide operating management with accurate and timely reports and recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain complete, accurate, and accessible files and records.
  • Ability to drive a passenger van; must possess a current driver’s license, and a clean driving record with no outstanding violations.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, and
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a related program, service, or activity, or
  • Any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
  • This position includes the normal physical demands associated with a program for teenagers, including lifting, bending, and carrying; and travel to other facilities throughout the Philadelphia area.
  • This position requires availability and flexibility to participate in programs, services, and activities during regularly scheduled workdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
