JOB SUMMARY

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club has been at the forefront of youth development in the greater Locust Valley community for 65 years, serving almost 2,000 children between 6 and 18 years of age. Our facility is located on the north shore of Nassau County on Long Island. The Club offers drop-in and structured programs that channel youthful energy and curiosity into constructive activities, and that address today’s most pressing youth issues. Our teen members are engaged in diverse activities that support leadership skills, financial skills, college & career choices as well as fun sports, music activities and field trips.

 

The Teen Program Assistant is a Part-Time 20 hour week position that runs from Sept through the end of June. In a safe, nurturing and fun environment, engage with our members who participate in local community service projects, travel monthly into NYC to experience an entertainment and/or cultural event, head off to visit colleges in the tri-state area, go on ski trips, Teen Tours & participate in BGCA National programs.

 

Are you able to be a role model for our teen members by showcasing your sense of responsibility, integrity & sound judgment? Can you work sensitively with diverse people, and enthusiastically facilitate Boys & Girls Club of America materials? Do you have college work related to psychology, social work or a field relevant to Teen Programs? Have you worked with high school students in a group setting? If so, you have the job requirements that we seek!

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Previous experience working with groups of children
  • Some college coursework in related field: child/adolescent psychology, social work etc.
  • Good communication skills, as well as ability to relate with teen population and encourage participation in activities.
  • All positions require background checks.

The schedule is Monday, Wednesday & Friday 3pm - 8pm, and Saturday 9am -2pm  (20 hours/week)

OR -  Tuesday  & Thursday 3-8pm, Friday 4-8pm and Saturday 9 am – 4pm.(17 hours/week)

Rate of pay is $12/hour DOE (Accepting applicants from local geographical area only.)
