JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for implementation and monitoring of all core Club programs, including but not limited to the following: Education and Career Development; Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; Volunteerism. Plans, develops and oversees program implementation. Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program activities and that they receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas. Plans, implements and monitors Club programs for members and reports results of the programs to management.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Leadership

·         Plans and oversees the administration and evaluation of club-wide programs and activities that support the Boys & Girls Club Youth Development Strategy.

·         Ensures that Club staff understands and effectively delivers the key programs.

 

Strategic Planning

·         Ensures the development and evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis to ensure that programs and activities are responsive to member needs and are compatible with member gender and cultural diversity.

 

Resource Management

·         Develops a daily, weekly and monthly written program schedule.

·         Reports on all program activities to management. Ensures the relevance, accuracy and integrity of all program data reported.

·         Supervises proper recordkeeping and reporting of activities and events conducted, including information on daily participation, notable achievements, and any problems that need attention.

·         Ensures quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interest, and participating in weekly staff meeting.

·         Oversees the administration of programs at each location and the completion of required reports, including preparation and delivery of any required administrative, marketing or Board reports.

·         Helps manage the Club budget and controls expenses.

·         Provides management with feedback on the performance of the staff.

·         Plans and implements staff development and training programs.

 

Marketing and Public Relations

·         Works with the Club staff to increase the visibility of Club programs and to communicate the benefits of Club membership to the community. Participates and leads in the development of advertising and promotional mailings and other forms of communication to current Club families, as well as, potential new Club families.

·         Participates in activities to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services and activities.

·         Develops collaborative partnerships with other youth-serving organizations, current members, parents, families, and community organizations.

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university (preferred), or equivalent experience.

·         A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.

·         Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

·         Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.

·         Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups and other related agencies.

·         Knowledge of KidTrax and MoneyTrax software preferred.

·         Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (training will be provided if not current)

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Excel, Word, Publisher.

·         And above all, good common sense.
