JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the CEO, provides leadership and direction to advance the culture of philanthropy for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento (BGCSAC). The CDO is responsible for planning and executing strategies necessary to generate diversified revenue streams for the organization by way of fundraising, marketing and business development efforts. Duties include fund development, new and existing donor cultivation, grant management and fiscal reporting

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Individual Donor Acquisition and Management

  • Leads strategies and research to identify, prioritize, cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward all donors and prospects, including reengaging lapsed donors.
  • Work with CEO and RD staff to coordinate pre-donor meetings, including cultivating and relationship assignment and management.
  • Take prospects through all phases of the development cycle, including donor calls and meetings, presentations and proposals, pledges and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinates implementation of RD projects/initiatives to build endowment, secure major gifts and planned giving.

 

Corporate Sponsorship and Partnership Development Management

  • Work with CEO, board, and administrative staff to acquire, build and sustain major corporate, foundation, government donors.
  • Work with corporate partners to obtain sponsorships and write sponsorship proposals.
  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of acknowledgements and recognition procedures and strategies.
  • Support grant requirements as needed.

 

Annual Giving

  • Oversee Annual Giving strategy including the implementation of campaigns, including sponsorship/pledge renewals and special appeals.
  • Develop and implement strategy to reach revenue goals; manage, sustain and nurture existing relationships and engage new partners.
  • Work closely with current and potential Funding Partners to support BGCSAC and encourage financial support and additional resources to support the mission at BGCSAC.
  • Responsible for coordinating content for regular correspondence to donors and collaborates with RD staff to ensure that publications, website and social media are up to date.

 

Special Event Support

  • Attend community and corporate partner special events on behalf of the Club as requested.
  • Attend BGCSAC special events to support overall event processes and ensure community and corporate sponsor engagement.
  • Coordinate BGCSAC special events and coordinate sponsorship acquisitions.

 

Development Database Management and Administration

  • Conduct research and analysis for strategic development efforts using the BGCSAC database.
  • Manage and update all development related information that is entered into the database.
  • Work with Community Relations Manager on all marketing materials and e-mailings for annual appeal, gala and other key events.
  • Prepare annual reports and keep donor/premium member list up-to-date.
  • Responsible for written monthly updates to CEO regarding pipeline development and revenue projections.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attends meetings of Board of Directors and RD committee.
  • Manage and update board ask and solicitor lists.
  • Support various administrative tasks related to fundraising and donor management as needed.
  • Stays current on all areas of job duties through attending conferences, seminars and trainings.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Work experience in non-profit agency operations, primarily in fundraising and campaign facilitation. Experience working with the philanthropic and business community.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Donor Database.
  • Detail-oriented, high energy level and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform on multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check (FBI/DOJ, drug screening, TB test).

 

Physical Requirements

  • The majority of the work time is conducted in office and program setting. Some travel is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Move from place to place within a program setting.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Maintain a high energy level.
  • Regularly speak clearly and hear the spoken word as well.
