JOB SUMMARY
The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn seeks a full time Health & Recreation Director who will be responsible for the day-to-day activities in the gymnasium of a busy, non-profit, youth organization. This individual will be responsible for effectively delivering a broad range of activities for youth and teens, all of which will aim to promote the health and wellness of our members. The Health & Recreation Director works Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This schedule varies depending on the time of year and will include Saturdays for part of the year.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight and Development
· Support members’ health and wellness through a variety of program offerings. This includes, but is not limited to coordinating after school sports leagues and drop in fitness activities and implementing programs that encourage healthy lifestyles in our members.
· Design and implement new and innovative programming to create a balanced program for small and large group, gender balanced activities that establish the importance of fun, learning, and sportsmanship over winning.
· Oversee and manage volunteer coaches and referees, providing appropriate guidance and training while communicating effectively with all volunteers.
· Develop and implement collaborative programs and events with staff members from other departments and community organizations as appropriate. Promote and stimulate member interest in a variety of Club activities and encourage youth to participate in all Club areas.
· Maintain, manage, and seek out new opportunities for collaborative partnerships with local schools and/or community organizations that ensure member recruitment and retention.
· Use electronic tracking software to monitor data and record efforts undertaken by Club members throughout the year.
· Participate in outcome measurement processes and other evaluation programs, including BGCA’s annual Impact Assessment.
· Manage and oversee James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn program activity standards as determined each year with the Clubhouse Program Director.
Prepare Members for Success
· Establish program objectives that are consistent with organizational goals and mission.
· Support and maintain programs that engage members socially, culturally, communally, and intellectually and reflect the diversity of Club life.
· Plan and implement day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
· Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun, engaging activities each day.
Supervise Program Space
· Create and maintain, in collaboration with the youth, a culture of respect within the programs and program space.
· Manage and enforce effective guidance & discipline policies.
· Ensure that the program area is safe and that equipment is maintained in good working condition.
· Use social media, flyers, calendars, etc. to market programs and encourage regular participation in the gymnasium.
