JOB SUMMARY

The Resource Development Director works with the Chief Professional Officer and the Board of Directors to plan and execute resource development strategies and monitor progress toward goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Resource Development Director supports the staff and Board in positioning them to cultivate and solicit donations from individuals, corporations, and business for the organization. Provide writing support for foundation and corporate grant requests and acknowledgment of donor gifts. The Resource Development Director is responsible for helping to secure sponsorships for events, as well as organizing special events including, an annual dinner, golf tournament, parties/ receptions, etc.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Resource Development Administration

·         Responsible for planning, administering and implementing the annual campaign of fund development which includes planned giving; memorials and honor gifts; individual gifts; corporate gifts; clubs and organizations; foundations; endowments; Steak & Burger; special events; direct mail and board giving, with a priority on major gifts as it relates to operating funds

 

Development and Implementation

·         Gives leadership, support and direction to the Development Committee in its implementation of yearly resource development goals.

 

Policies and Procedures

·         Works with the Development Committee to recommend specific development policies and procedures which enhance fund-raising efforts of Boys & Girls Clubs.

 

Recruit Volunteers

·         Assures that Boys & Girls Clubs has qualified professional committee volunteers to implement the development plan. Fund Raising - Participates with each Club Board and in collaboration with the Chief Professional Officer in setting club fund raising goals. This includes organizing and helping Club board volunteers to conduct special events.

 

Special Projects

·         Responsible for planning and implementing special projects as needed to reach development goals as assigned by the CPO.

 

Administration

·         Oversee the coordination and implementation of an overall marketing and communications plan targeting staff, volunteers, donors and the general public. This includes the development of budgetary needs connected to each. Coordinate staff time to insure maximum outcome in marketing and communication efforts.

 

Committee Efforts

·         Oversee Special Events and Communication to insure the success of the Boys & Girls Club Marketing Committee. Provide leadership and direction to the committee and support staff in the development and implementation of a successful, comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign plan.

 

Policies, Procedures and Goal

·         Work with the CPO to identify and develop specific marketing policies, procedures and yearly goals. Communications - Insure that all organizational materials enhance the development and marketing efforts of Boys & Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe Counties.

 

Supervision

·         Supervise activities of the Club Directors, and other staff associated with the Resource Development and/or Public Relations efforts.

 

Program Implementation

·         Support program efforts of Boys & Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe Counties by identifying and cultivating staff talents which might enhance over-all program and/or administrative efforts of Boys & Girls Club system.

 

Authorization

·         Authorized to represent Boys & Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe counties in identifying and recruiting potential volunteers/staff or other support identified in the community.

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

·         A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys or Girls Club or similar not-for-profit organization with an emphasis on fundraising, marketing, management, budgeting, community and public relations.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to fundraising issues.
