JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Vallejo City Unified School District’s After School Coordinator & Staff, and Continentals of Omega Boys & Girls Club Academic Director, you will work at either Hogan Middle School or Solano Middle School as a youth development professional, tutor, and mentor. Plan and implement academic tutoring strategies, arts & crafts activities, recreation & athletics. The hours for Hogan: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 2:00-6:00 pm, and Wednesday 12:15-6:00 pm. The hours for Solano: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 1:45-6:00 pm, and Wednesday 12:00-6:00 pm.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Prepare Youth for Success Using the LIAS Principles (Active, Collaborative, Meaningful, Supports Mastery, Expands Horizons)

·         Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:

o    Promote and Stimulate program participation

o    Increase Academic success

o    Provide Guidance and Role Modeling to members

 

Program Development and Implementation

·         Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members, visitors, and guests.

·         Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities. Ensure safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the Club at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.

 

Additional Responsibilities

·         Participate in special programs and/or events.

·         Maintain close daily contact with Club Members, After School Coordinator & Staff, and COBGC Staff to receive and provide information & updates, discuss concerns, review guidelines & instructions, and collaborate and build towards a thriving program

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

·         A minimum of 48 College Units, BA Degree, or pass Para Educator Exam.

·         Experience in working with children.

·         Knowledge of youth development.

·         Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems.

·         Ability to deal with the general public.

·         Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.

·         Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

·         Valid California State Driver’s License, pass a TB test and Livescan background check.

·         May be required to do occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

·         Staff may but are not required to participate in recreational activities.
