JOB SUMMARY

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of operations, programs, services and activities that facilitate achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Strategically align the organization’s mission, culture, and brand to empower high performance among individual staff and teams ensuring our organizational performance and business success.
  • Lead a staff of direct reports that includes Unit Directors and Program Staff.
  • HR Management Coordinate and oversee development and training for all operations and Club-level staff, promoting and fostering individual and team support and commitment to organizational enrichment. Participate in the staffing process for all branches/sites ensuring that staff meet or exceed job qualifications.
  • Ensure that all operations and Club-level employees have an individual development plan. Ensure that operational and Club-level leadership succession planning is in place.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program and operational effectiveness on the basis of participation and achievement of stated goals; recommends modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate.

 

Resource Management

  • Responsible for operations and program impact; regularly review department financials to ensure that resources are utilized according to plan and meeting organizational objectives. Monitor and report variances in revenues and expenditures.
  • Provide narrative of monthly Program expenses and ensure that expenditures are within approved budget categories and limits.
  • Oversee administrative operations to include NYOI (National Youth Outcomes Initiatives) through efficient communication, processes, and procedures.
  • Responsible for the introduction and maintenance of quality management modalities to ensure that deliverables are mission driven. Work collaboratively with development staff, overseeing grant deliverables through approved program initiatives including compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Manage administrative and operational processes, policies and membership accountability and accuracy with strict adherence to internal and external compliance with all regulatory agency requirements. Ensure effective administration of facility management overseeing the maintenance and repair of buildings, modes of transportation, and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with responsible staff to ensure the highest level of the safety for members, staff and the public.
  • Manage performance of assigned staff in achieving goals, providing technical assistance in program design, development, community relations and program operations.

 

Board Development

  • Support Board Committees as assigned providing program and impact data.

 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Participate in activities in order to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services and activities.
  • The Director of Operations is expected to be an ambassador for the organization in the communities it serves.

 

Partnership Development

  • Develop and oversee all collaborative partnerships with all youth serving organizations, members, parents, families and community organizations.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • May consult with parents or agencies concerning critical member and branch issues. All other duties as assigned.

 

Relationships

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member's parents and other to assist in resolving problems.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of three years management/administrator work experience in a Boys or Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people. 5+ years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, vertical and horizontal.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid Certifications or be willing to obtain them (paid by the organization)
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (email, docs, sheets, & additional apps) & Microsoft Office
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, exercise good judgement, works independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to develop a project budget and effectively manage expenses.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work and respond to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
