JOB SUMMARY

Candidate will be responsible for the overall planning and operation of our non-profit organization, in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. Will provides leadership, direction and support to the Board of Directors in developing and sustaining the organizational goals. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) assists in attaining and allocating resources needed to support the programs and activities at our four sites. Will establish and sustain the policies & procedures that ultimately help hold the organization accountable to work as one team. Candidate must be strong in building community relationships that can help bring resources and financial support to our organization. Fundraising skills and knowledge are critical for survival and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and supports safety as the ultimate priority for every child we serve.
  • Guides, supports, and serves the Board of Directors in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets and programs that fulfill the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Provides leadership to Club staff through the establishment of goals, objectives, and procedures; develops administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
  • Assures management and attainment of resources necessary to ensure the financial operations of the agency are conducted in accordance with applicable laws. Assures that the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
  • Oversees staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff.
  • Monitors and approves the organization's program services and assures achievement of its mission and goals.
  • Promotes Boys & Girls Club services to individuals, other service organizations, and the local community.
  • Directs and participates in public relations and promotes the organization with such other groups as Chambers, School Boards, Corporate Rotaries, etc.
  • Provides professional leadership to the Board of Directors to assure development of an effective and motivated board, including identification, recruitment, training and involvement of members in meeting the goals of the organization.
  • Leads and supports all directions related to fundraising, grants and donations.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to leadership development, strategic planning, board development, resource development, resource management and partnership development.
  • BA or similar preferred, and/or excellent background in fundraising and community relations.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience preferred in the management, administration and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization), including demonstrated ability to fundraise, manage people, budgets, and control expenses.

Additional Accountabilities

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:  Provide direct and indirect supervision to several full-time professionals located at several sites.
     

Relationships
Internal: Maintain contact with the board of directors, Club staff, volunteers and Club members.

External: Maintain contact with potential and current donors, external community groups, parents, school officials and others as required.

 

Environmental and Working Conditions

  • The majority of the work time is conducted in an office setting. Some local travel may be necessary.

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Maintain a high energy level.
  • Be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Regularly speak clearly and hear the spoken word as well.
  • Sometimes travel to local Club sites in the organization using public transportation and/or personally driving a motor vehicle.
