JOB SUMMARY

The Medford Boys and Girls Club (Parent Organization is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County) is hiring an Education Program Leader to manage education based programs and activities as well as homework and small tutoring groups. The ideal candidate will have experience as a youth development professional in the area of academic programming and demonstrated success in facilitating programs for youth ages 6-14. This position requires availability Monday–Friday, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m. as well as additional hours of program planning time prior to Club operation hours.

 

This position is for 30 HOURS PER WEEK POSITION START DATE: Negotiable start date and scheduled hours possible as early as August 1; At the latest, the candidate must be available to start by/on August 22, 2016

LOCATION: Medford Boys and Girls Club

SALARY: Between $13-$15/hour, based on experience. This position is also eligible for certain employee benefits, including health insurance, dental & vision coverage, long-term disability, and life insurance

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and coordinate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), literacy, tutoring and high yield learning programs and activities for youth ages 6-14
  • Provide academic support, through homework support as well as through education-based programs, to youth ages 6-12. This position is responsible for leading an age/grade specific daily homework group
  • Demonstrate personal leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members
  • Supervise Club youth participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as appropriate, assuring they are held accountable for their behavior
  • Set program goals and track program data, including daily program participation and Club member development
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High School degree required, some college strongly preferred. Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth serving organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth aged 6-14. Experience in program or curriculum development is a plus.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to model a professional appearance and team attitude
  • Ability to pass a National Criminal and Sex offender background check
