JOB SUMMARY

If you are looking for a great opportunity to oversee the Development program of an up and coming non-profit on the South Shore of Massachusetts, then this is the job for you. The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield is looking a dynamic, energetic person to lead their annual development campaigns and future capital campaigns in order to promote the mission of the club and enhance funding support. The Club has a strong history of successful annual and capital campaigns, including the building of a state of the art clubhouse just three years ago. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and work extensively with a highly motivated Development Committee and dedicated staff to achieve the goals of the club and to support the children and teens of the area.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

·         Coordinate the development activities of a comprehensive Development plan (annual and multi-year) that includes a communication component (key messaging) and managing the campaign timetables.  Will be responsible for leading the development process of the Club, including coordinating gift requests, donor stewardship and management.  The position will involve significant community leadership and outreach.

·         Develop and manage the process for annual solicitations of donors including campaigns for Annual Fund and Major Gifts.  Have the opportunity to create planned giving programs, Donor Society and work directly with the Executive Director and Board Chair on plans for a Capital Campaign.

·         Collaborate w/CEO, Board, Development Committee, Donors and Management Team on the cultivation and stewardship of major donors, including corporate sponsorship and individual donors.  Will coordinate donor recognition activities.

·         Serve on the Development Committee. Coordinate Development Committee meetings. Work with CEO and BOD on as well Development Committee co-chair on annual goals and plans for Development Committee.

·         Will direct the planning of all external events, including Development ‘special events’, annual meeting, and donor appreciation events

·         Will work with BGC Financial Manager to report outcomes, stewardship reports and comprehensive giving reports to Executive Director, Development Committee and Board of Directors

·         Will work with management team to research viable grant prospects and submit funding/sponsorship proposals to businesses and foundations and serve as the ongoing liaison with these funders and potential supporters.  Will write proposals in collaboration with program management staff.

·         Will work with Executive Director and Development Committee to prepare all written communications and collateral marketing material to support the Development Department.

·         BA/BS required; Masters’ degree in non-profit management or related field preferred

·         Minimum 3-5 years direct experience in development and/or non-profit administration

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create, produce and manage organizational publications

·         Leadership and project management skills, including prioritizing and meeting deadlines. Collaboration skills to work with senior leadership, Board and/or committee members

·         Organizational skills relevant to planning and implementing multiple tasks and activities. Attention to detail and accuracy

·         Managerial skills to facilitate, either directly or indirectly, productive interaction with other staff members required to support fundraising and communications activities

·         Excellent interpersonal skills.  Ability to motivate and educate supporter, recruit, manage and partner with volunteers

·         Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·         Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment, tact, and discretion

·         Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively under multiple deadline pressure

·         Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of partners

·         Knowledge of PC and/or Mac computers and software including Adobe and MS Office; ability to learn new programs as needed

·         Experience maintaining a comprehensive database and generating reports

·         Knowledge of using web and social media for communications and fundraising purposes

·         Knowledge of issues and systems related to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities

·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

·         Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. 

·         Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

·         Requires a legally insured and inspected automobile for use to be present at work and available for use during working hours. 

·         Valid driver's license
