JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Branch director, working in conjunction with the Youth Development Supervisor, the Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs within a designated branch, to ensure the programs create the outcomes of Globally Competitive Graduates, 21st Century Leaders, Innovative Dream Makers, and Healthy Game Changers. The Program Coordinator plans, develops, oversees implementation of programs and program staff.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

  • Plan, develop, evaluate and oversee implementation of arts, education, life skills, sports & fitness, technology center and specialty programs, activities and services that prepares youth for success ensuring that the programs create the outcomes of Globally Competitive Graduates, 21st Century Leaders, Innovative Dream Makers, and Healthy Game Changers.
  • Monitor program delivery and work with program staff to plan and implement improvements.
  • Communicate with club staff, members and partner agencies to insure understanding of program opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members.
  • Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs.
  • Control program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
  • Monitors program areas and provides constructive feedback to staff with regard to program delivery and member guidance and discipline.
  • Trains and guides Program Staff to ensure an environment that promotes the physical, social and emotional well-being of youth, that incorporates guidance and discipline principles and that insures understanding of designated programs.
  • Recruit and develop volunteers to help out in program areas as well as to conduct specialty programs.
  • Orders program supplies in a cost efficient manner and insures program staff has supplies required to run programs.
  • Consult with parents about member issues.
  • Implement and manage all grants including completing monthly reports.
  • Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Drive Bus/ Van to pick up children from school.
  • Run program areas as needed
  • Develop outcome measurements
  • Visit schools and hold meetings with principals as needed.
  • May consult with parents concerning member and branch issues.
  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
  • Manage club in absence of the Branch Director or Youth Development Supervisor.
  • Plan field trips.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A passion and strong understanding of the Boys & Girls Clubs and our mission
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college required.
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the retention of key personnel.
  • Thorough knowledge of youth development theory and the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
