JOB SUMMARY 

The Director of Marketing and Individual Gifts will act as the primary communications specialist for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas – supporting Unit Directors and each community in the creation and execution of marketing materials and strategies in order to further the programmatic and resource development goals of the organization.  To include, research and identify individual prospects for contribution solicitations as well as individuals for major gifts solicitations.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Traditional Marketing Support

  • Write, design and publish regular newsletter.
  • Update website content.
  • Develop, maintain and update BGCTX Facebook page.
  • Help develop, create and distribute general marketing materials (brochures etc.).
  • Help produce videos for events and promotion.
  • Advertising support to include securing in-kind advertising and the development and creation of print, radio, TV and web ads.
  • Work to develop and implement an all-inclusive marketing plan/campaign.
  • This will be done primarily through a number of key areas of work to include, but not limited to: internal and external communications; events coordination; electronic and print media relations; graphic design and materials development; donor prospect and program outcome research; and donor stewardship and recognition.

 

Individual Giving and Donor Tracking

  • Research and identify individual prospects for contribution solicitations as well as individuals for major gifts solicitations.  Responsible for oversight and maintenance of donor data base to track and assist communities in using data base for reporting, assessing donor needs and strategic planning.
  • Evaluate giving trends of individuals, corporations and foundations and determine those with potential for supporting the organization
  • Primary functions also include directing the identification, research, cultivation and solicitation of Individual Gifts prospects and donors.  Prepares correspondence, proposals and reports.  Conducts face-to-face solicitations, involving Club executives and key volunteers, as appropriate.

 

Leadership

  • Contribute to the development of overall development and strategies.  Manage the implementation of all activities relating to Individual Gifts campaigns and Planned Gift campaigns
  • Develop and implement marketing and public relation strategies designed to build appreciation and support of Club programs, services and activities, and to increase participation by youth in the community

 

Public Relations

  • Develop meaningful relationships with local media contacts, Club members, and parents, supporters, neighboring club organizations, consultants, vendors and other non-profit organizations in order to establish professional links and to increase the visibility of the Clubs within the community.
  • Write and submit press releases to the local media about news and events happening within the organization.

          

Community Relations

  • Take part in Chamber of Commerce and other Service Club events and activities.

 

Special Events

  • Play an important role in special events held in each community assisting with the creation of event marketing materials, invitations and programs, and utilizing educated network to increase sponsorships.

 

Annual Campaigns

  • Assist with direct mail campaigns by writing letters and managing the distribution of information to donors.
  • Lead and coordinate support for business driven fundraising events.
  • Help identify and prospect potential new donors (both individuals and businesses).

           

Donor Recognition and Stewardship

  • Help make regular calls to donors to thank them for the gifts.
  • Lead mid-year and year-end donor stewardship efforts
  • Play key role in volunteer/donor events

 

Grants

  • Provide support with writing grants and reports to funders.
  • Prospect for potential new funders.
  • Assist Resource Development VP in administration or oversight of grant when needed.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred, or a combination of education and experience
  • Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and public relations, and individual giving.
  • Superior writing, editing and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong project management, administrative and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing and usual computer applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and be attentive to details.
  • Highly creative problem solving ability.
  • Knowledge of accessing and utilizing donor data base
