 JOB SUMMARY

Plans, implements, executes, supervises and evaluates all teen related programs and activities leading to priority outcomes as identified for the Future U program.

 

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Leadership

  • Establish programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an environment that facilitates achievement of Future U outcomes.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Establish rapport with teens to provide mentoring, role modeling and overall guidance and support for their leadership development, social, artistic and life skills development, physical activity engagement and academic progress.
  • Support members emotional and social development by encouraging respect for others and positive self-image.
  • Develop systems to ensure all grant requirements associated with the Future U program or other related programs are completed and documented.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.
  • Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation as required.

 

Resource Management

  • Manage financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups.
  • Collaborate with Director of Development to support fundraising efforts.
  • Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations to ensure youth are provided with an exceptional experience.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and local organizations.

 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Develop and maintain public relations and work to increase the visibility of Future U services and activities within the Club and the community.
  • Work with teens to identify most effective types of social media to recruit members

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Purchase or approve purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members by utilizing guidance & discipline plan.
  • Operate Club vehicles to support programming efforts.
  • Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Develop a working knowledge of member management system to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

 

Relationships

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to support organizational mission, establish program objectives and standards, discuss issues and provide/receive information. Establish rapport with youth members and maintain regular contact to provide advice, counsel and discipline as needed. Attend senior staff meetings on a regular basis to maintain open lines of communication with colleagues.

External: Serve as primary contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to promote the Future U program.

Arkansas is an “at will employment” state.  As employees in the state of Arkansas we are considered to be employed at our will and by the will of our employer. If either party chooses to end the arrangement, by resignation or termination, the employment arrangement is ended. There is no compensation nor any form of remuneration owed or paid at the time of separation beyond documented accrued hours worked that, at the time of separation, had not yet been paid.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Four year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience or a minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization.
  • Planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Ability to supervise members and deal effectively with members including disciplinary issues.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
