Title Senior Director STEM & Educational Foundations

Description Located in Atlanta, the senior director demonstrates mastery in the translation of culture and vision into sub-strategies, practical action plans and projects to develop and scale a portfolio of program activations across the more than 4,000 Clubs that define the BGCA federated model of impact.

The senior director is a content expert who contributes to the youth development portfolio for elementary, middle, and high school aged youth with a specific focus on leading program strategies, ensuring program quality and impact, leadership of special initiatives, educating and developing national staff, driving member outcomes, and producing thought leadership.


This role will deliver the innovative thinking and business-changing recommendations that are at the core of our youth development social impact work. He or she will work in small, flexible teams that require a politically savvy collaborative leader, who is able to build relationships to represent the interests of PTYDS, partnering with Resource Development, Marketing and Communications, Field Services, Planning and Measurement, Human Resources, Government Relations, corporate partners, and others. This person must have a proven background as a content area expert, program portfolio manager and/or program design leader. He or she must be able to partner in the analysis and translation of research findings to drive organizational learning and impact.


A primary responsibility will be leading in the design of strategy and programs that address critical barriers to academic and post-secondary success, including but not limited to STEM, literacy, numeracy/computational mastery, college access, tenacity and others. BGCA is in a historic growth and innovation cycle, powered by the Great Futures Campaign for Impact. The senior director will help in creating, identifying, evolving and evaluating current programs.


Requirements The ideal candidate will have high-level expertise in the areas of academic development, educational achievement, literacy, STEM, and out of school time (OST) programming along with youth development. It is also important that he/she begins his/her work with a high level appreciation of the mission of BGCA and an ability to quickly understand the relevant literature across BGCA’s three priority areas (Academic Achievement, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles).

The candidate must have an understanding of various topics, including 21st century leadership skill development, digital literacy, on-time high school graduation, STEM, creativity and innovation, summer learning loss prevention, culturally relevant pedagogy, federal evidence based certification processes, and more.

Education:
Master’s degree in education leadership, non-profit management, business administration, curriculum and instruction, social innovation or a related discipline is required.



Experience:
Minimum seven years of experience, with progressive supervisory responsibility, in youth development, human performance enhancement, research evaluation and assessment, change management, strategic consulting, corporate responsibility, brand management, social work or related discipline is required.


Three years of experience leading change management, developing seven figure funding applications with program implementation budgets, guiding strategic planning processes and activation, conducting training and impact projects, and evaluating complex data to drive change is essential. Federal grant development and management preferred.


Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Travel estimated at 25% - 30% (can be up to 5- 7 days or more in a month – including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements).
