Senior Director - Applications Development

Job Summary:

Under the limited direction of the Vice President, Information Technology, the Senior Director, Applications Development is responsible for BGCA business applications. This position is responsible for aligning IT activity with business goals, developing and supporting information systems, and establishing and maintaining Information Technology practices and staffing to ensure the success of project and support deliverables, deadlines, and budgets. In addition, the Senior Director, Applications Development plans and manages multiple projects and activities.



Job Functions:



Strategic Planning

Partner with BGCA management on strategic planning, identifying new information systems projects and establishing priorities.
Develop and manage a project portfolio that centralizes, and collectively manages a group of current or proposed IT projects and determine the optimal resource mix and schedule to achieve an organization’s operational and financial goals.
Plan and direct the development of new application systems and maintenance and enhancement of existing systems. This includes proposal and contract preparation, cost/benefit analysis, systems analysis, design, and programming and implementation activities.
Establish and support the organization’s information technology applications development environment including methodology, standards, tools, and design principles, purchased packages and performance criteria.
Ensure reliable service through change and problem management practices and managing to expected service levels.
Ensure that development of applications meets customer expectations and objectives and that scope, budget, schedules and resource requirements are managed within agreed limits.
Manage client relationships to ensure performance levels are established, appropriate support is provided and needs are satisfied in a responsive manner.


Lead/Manage Business Operations of Service

Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and develop assigned staff according to BGCA’s policies and procedures, ensuring the overall smooth functioning of the Information Technology department, and consulting appropriate Human Resources staff as indicated.
Negotiate vendor applications software contracts and license agreements.
Keep informed on information technology trends and propose how they can be used BGCA to further its mission and goals.
Keep the Vice President, Information Technology Delivery and impacted customers promptly informed of any critical issues.
Perform special projects assigned by the Vice President, Information Technology Operations.
Demonstrate BGCA mission driven values of integrity, excellence and inclusion and integrate into work environment and ways of work.
Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA’s Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.

Education and Experience



Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required with a major in computer science, business administration or a related field.
Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible, comprehensive experience in information systems.

Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for four plus hours per day and other physical factors required in performing essential functions of the position.
